Furong Town

Furong Town follows the slopes beside the Youshui River, with a waterfall dropping through the town and stilt houses rising in layers on either side. Move between viewpoints and the water, buildings and cliffs take on new arrangements. The attraction is not just the falls, but the way an old town fits its terrain.

Formerly known as Wangcun, the town was a trading stop on the Youshui River before the film Hibiscus Town brought it wider recognition. On its stone-paved streets, take time to notice eaves, shops and alley entrances. If it appeals, pause for a bowl of the local rice tofu.

Daylight reveals the layers of buildings and landscape; after dark, lighting draws the eaves and waterfall into another scene. If time allows, stay as daylight fades. Instead of chasing every photo angle, wander the lanes and listen to how the water sounds from different corners.
