Opening and connections need confirmation — For planning enquiries only until confirmed. Do not set off on your own following an old guide.
- Suggested time
- Allow a full day; confirm open sections and an exit plan first
- Starting area
- Confirm that day's open entrance and connections to Yangjiajie
- Walking distance
- Plan distance around confirmed open branches; cumulative elevation gain has not been field-measured.
- Physical effort
- Demanding branches may involve steep steps, narrow passages or ladders. They are not default additions to a relaxed sightseeing walk.
About this route
Yangjiajie's rock walls resemble stone ramparts, contrasting with Yuanjiajie's isolated pillars. Start with the main Natural Great Wall viewpoint path open that day, then discuss whether to add steeper branches. Access to Wulong Village, Tianbo Mansion or One Step to Heaven is not guaranteed; old guides are not permission to enter.
Suggested sequence
- First confirm the sections you intend to walk, the entrance and connections. Do not set off following an old guide.
- Base the plan on the main viewpoints open that day; decide on branches only after checking each section.
- Confirm local accompaniment, turnaround points and return arrangements in advance. Drop the branch if it is closed or the weather is poor.
Transport and safety
Current access to some connecting sections has not been verified. Do not leave designated paths, cross barriers or enter closed routes. Local accompaniment and an exit plan still need arranging separately.
Use only designated trails open that day. Timings are planning suggestions; actual duration depends on fitness, weather, queues and connections. Unsurveyed distances and elevation gain are not guaranteed.
Cost information
This page provides route-planning information only. Admission, cableways, elevators, sightseeing trains, activities, meals, hotels, transfers, guides and insurance are not included. If you need services, confirm each price, inclusion and cancellation/change condition.
Frequently asked questions
Can I book these routes directly?
Guided hikes are not yet open for booking. You can ask about walking arrangements; an actual booking proposal requires written confirmation of services, total price and conditions.
Can I walk just part of a route?
Some valley and viewpoint walks can be shortened, but confirm turnaround points, exits and transport. Do not assume one-way canyon or climbing routes allow you to retrace your steps at any time.
Do photos and travel guides prove a trail is open?
No. Check official notices, weather and on-site restrictions on the day. Demanding Yangjiajie branches and Wolong Ridge need section-by-section confirmation; do not use old maps to enter closed areas.
