Tianmen Mountain: Cliff Paths and Cave Steps

About this route

Tianmen's paths bring you close to the mountain wall: rock on one side, a deep valley and clouds on the other. Summit walks and Tianmen Cave offer different rhythms; the 999 steps are an optional challenge, not compulsory for every visitor. This scenic area is separate from Wulingyuan. Connections depend on your reserved ticket and the routes open that day.

Suggested sequence

1. Reserve Tianmen Mountain in advance and check the ticket types open that day, meeting point and ascent/descent arrangements.
2. Use designated summit paths open that day. The glass skywalk is not the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge.
3. Choose the Tianmen Cave steps or a confirmed alternative according to your fitness and what is open, leaving time to descend.

Transport and safety

Connections may change during cableway reconstruction. Check access and fees for the glass skywalk, steps and different escalators separately. Do not assume everything is included or that queues can be skipped.

Use only designated trails open that day. Timings are planning suggestions; actual duration depends on fitness, weather, queues and connections. Unsurveyed distances and elevation gain are not guaranteed.
